# What You’ll Need:

→ Strawberry Layer

01 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
02 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
03 - 2 tablespoons water

→ Matcha Layer

04 - 2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder
05 - 1/4 cup hot water (175°F)

06 - 1 cup milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
07 - 1/2 cup ice cubes

# How-to Steps:

01 - Combine strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Mash lightly and heat for 2-3 minutes until strawberries are soft and syrupy. Allow to cool slightly, then blend until smooth.
02 - Whisk matcha powder with hot water in a small bowl until completely dissolved and frothy, using a bamboo whisk or milk frother.
03 - Divide the strawberry puree evenly between two serving glasses. Add ice cubes on top of the puree.
04 - Pour milk gently over the strawberry and ice layer to maintain separation.
05 - Carefully pour the matcha mixture over the milk to create a distinct layered effect. Stir before drinking if desired.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The strawberry puree keeps for days in the fridge, so you can make these drinks on repeat
  • You get that cafe quality layered look without any fancy equipment or barista skills
02 -
  • Cold milk is non negotiable here, warm milk will blend into the matcha instead of staying layered
  • Pour everything slowly over the back of a spoon touching the liquid surface to maintain distinct layers
03 -
  • Straight sided glasses show off the layers better than curved ones
  • Strain the strawberry puree through a fine mesh if you want a completely smooth texture
